Dr. Jill Adelson completed her Ph.D. in 2009 when she defended her dissertation, Examining the Effects of Gifted Programming in Mathematics and Reading Using the ECLS-K. After graduation, she was an Assistant Professor (followed by Associate Professor with tenure) at the University of Louisville. She is currently President and CEO of Adelson Research & Consulting, LLC.
Dr. David Alexandro completed his Ph.D. in 2018 when he defended his dissertation, Aiming for Success: Evaluating Statistical and Machine Learning Methods to Predict High School Student performance and Improve Early Warning Systems. After graduation, he became and Education Consultant in the Performance Office at the Connecticut State Department of Education.
Dr. Gil Andrada completed his Ph.D. in 2011 when he defended his dissertation, Bias and Standard Errors of Vertically Scaled Tests. After graduation, he was an Education Consultant at the Connecticut State Department of Education. Currently, he is the Director of Assessment Programs at Curriculum Associates.
Dr. Anne Black completed her Ph.D. in 2008 when she defended her dissertation, Maximum Likelihood Estimation and Multiple Imputation: A Monte Carlo Comparison of Modern Missing Data Techniques For Multilevel Data. After graduation, she was an Associate Research Scientist at Yale University. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at Yale School of Medicine and a Research Health Scientist at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Dr. Pei-Hsuan Chiu completed her Ph.D. in 2018 when she defended her dissertation, Bayesian Approaches to Test Score Measurement Errors in Student Growth Prediction Models. After graduation, she became an Education Consultant in the Performance Office at the Connecticut State Department of Education.
Dr. Dakota Cintron completed his Ph.D. in 2020 when he defended his dissertation, Statistical Estimation of Large Ordinal Factor Analysis Models. After graduation, he became a Postdoctoral Scholar at Evidence for Action, a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant-making initiative.
Dr. Glen Davenport completed his Ph.D. in 2016 when he defended his dissertation, Detecting Conceptual Change with Latent Transition Analysis. After graduation, he was a STEM Education Evaluator at Yale University’s Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning. He is currently the Associate Director of Assessment and Evaluation at Columbia University's Center for Teaching and Learning.
Dr. Melissa (Eastwood) DeBlasio completed her Ph.D. in 2014 when she defended her dissertation, The Effects of Construct Shift and Model-Data Misfit on Estimates of Growth Using Vertical Scales. After graduation, she was a Senior Consultant at the Office of Higher Education.
Dr. Jessica Kay Flake completed her Ph.D. in 2015 when she defended her dissertation, An Investigation of the Alignment Method for Detecting Measurement Noninvariance in Noncognitive Scales. After graduation, she was a Postdoctoral Researcher in quantitative psychology at York University and educational psychology at the University of Virginia. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at McGill University.
Dr. Anthony J. Gambino completed his Ph.D. in 2021 when he defended his dissertation, Evaluating the Performance of Continuous Analysis of Symmetrically Predicted Endogenous Subgroups. After graduation, he became a Postdoctoral Research Associate at UConn's National Center for Research on Gifted Education.
Dr. Briana Hennessy completed her Ph.D. in 2021 when she defended her dissertation, Estimating School-Level Performance on Test Subdimensions. After graduation, she became an Assistant Research Professor in the Research Methods, Measurement and Evaluation program at the University of Connecticut.
Dr. Paul Hernandez completed his Ph.D. in 2011 when he defended his dissertation, A Comparison of MMR and SEM Approaches to Multiple Treatment Groups Meta-Analysis. After graduation, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the School of Education & CSU STEM Center at Colorado State University. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Teaching, Learning and Culture at Texas A&M University.
Dr. Kristen (Juskiewicz) Pinnock completed her Ph.D. in 2018 when she defended her dissertation, Researcher and Evaluator Perceptions of the Adherence-Adaptation Debate in Fidelity of Implementation. After graduation, she was a Healthcare Analyst at the United States Government Accountability Office (US GAO). She is currently a Science, Technology Assessment, & Analytics Analyst at the US GAO.
Dr. Burcu Kaniskan completed her Ph.D. in 2011 when she defended her dissertation, Assessment of Growth: A Comparison of Models for Projecting Growth. After graduation, she was an Associate Research Scientist at Pearson. She is currently a, Associate Research Scientist at New York University's Tandon School of Engineering.
Dr. Janice Kooken completed her Ph.D. in 2015 when she defended her dissertation, Modeling Heterogeneity in Growth Mixture Models: A Case Study of Model Selection using Direct Behavior Rating. After graduation she was a Fellow in Harvard’s Strategic Data Project and a Data Strategist with Connecticut RISE Network. She is currently Principal Consultant at Kooken Research and Consulting, LLC, Dissertation Chair at Grand Canyon University, and Adjunct Assistant Professor at Liberty University.
Dr. Eva Yujia Li completed her Ph.D. in 2019 when she defended her dissertation, Evaluating Methods for Handling Multilevel Selection for the Purpose of Generalizing Cluster Randomized Trials. After graduation, she became a Statistician with the Office of Institutional Research at Yale University. She is currently a Statistician II with the Office of Institutional Research at Yale University.
Dr. (Shirley) Xiaoran Li completed her Ph.D. in 2018 when she defended her dissertation, Constructing Interpretable and Practical Subdomain Vertical Scales. After graduation, she was a Senior Research Associate and Psychometrician at Adelphi Values. She is currently a Senior Learning Scientist/Psychometrician at Savvas Learning Co. (formerly Pearson K12 Learning).
Dr. Xiaowen Liu completed her Ph.D. in 2021 when she defended her dissertation, The Impact of Missing Data on Parameter Estimation in Computerized Adaptive Testing. After graduation, she became a Lecturer at Tianjin Normal University's Psychology School.
Dr. Sarah D. Newton completed her Ph.D. in 2020 when she defended her dissertation, Multilevel Model Selection and Effective Sample Size—In Information Criteria We Trust. After graduation, she became the Associate Director for Online Programs in Research Methods, Measurement, & Evaluation, as well as a Postdoctoral Research Associate and Adjunct Instructor in UConn's Department of Educational Psychology.
Dr. Alexandra Perez completed her Ph.D. in 2023 when she defended her dissertation, Validity Threats When Comparing Results from Randomized Control Trials and Regression Discontinuity Designs. After graduation, she became an Education Research Analyst at the Institute of Education Sciences (IES).
Dr. Karen Rambo-Hernandez completed her Ph.D. in 2011 when she defended her dissertation, How Much do Schools Matter? Using Summer Growth Patterns to Assess the Impact of Schools on High Achieving and Gifted Students. After graduation, she was an Assistant Professor in the School of Education and School of Teacher Education and Principal Preparation at Colorado State University. She is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Teaching, Learning and Culture at Texas A&M University.
Dr. Graham Rifenbark completed his Ph.D. in 2019 when he defended his dissertation, A Monte Carlo Evaluation of Methods for Detecting Structural Model Misspecification. After graduation, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher and Research Associate at Kansas University's Center on Developmental Disabilities. He is currently an Assistant Research Professor in UConn's Department of Educational Psychology.
Dr. Rohini Sen completed her Ph.D. in 2012 when she defended her dissertation, Structural Equation Model Approach to the use of Response times for Improving Estimation in Item Response Models. After graduation, she was a Research Biostatistician and Psychometrician at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. She is currently the Director of Patient Experience Data & Strategy in Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) at AbbVie.
Dr. Dani Yomtov completed his Ph.D. in 2021 when he defended his dissertation, An Experimental Study of Ideology, Advocacy, and Confirmation Bias in Program Evaluation. After graduation, he continued his work as a Quality Improvement Analyst at Ventura County Behavioral Health.
Dr. Huihui Yu completed her Ph.D. in 2017 when she defended her dissertation, Novel Methods to Address Measurement Error Issues in Gifted Identification. After graduation, she was a Statistician at the Yale University School of Medicine. She is currently a Senior Statistician at the Yale University School of Medicine.
